A U.S. Coast Guard vessel was dispatched out of the Michigan Sault Wednesday after a sailboat capsized on Lake Superior not far from Laughing Whitefish Point, the Associated Press is reporting.

The body of a man was found floating near the sailboat by a passing pleasure craft, the wire service said on Wednesday night.

Two hours after the man was discovered, a woman's body was found on a nearby beach by a helicopter sent from Traverse City.

Both bodies are believed to have come from the capsized craft.

Names of the victims will not be released until next of kin have been notified.

The coroner's offices of Alger and Marquette counties are attempting to ascertain the cause of death.
