Saddam's nephew makes prison break

Authorities in Iraq have confirmed that Ayman Sabawi, son of Saddam Hussein's half-brother Sabawi Ibrahim Hassan al-Tikriti, escaped from prison today.

Authorities in Iraq have confirmed that Ayman Sabawi, son of Saddam Hussein's half-brother Sabawi Ibrahim Hassan al-Tikriti, escaped from prison today.

Saddam's nephew [shown] is said to have escaped with assistance from a police officer from a prison in northern Iraq, 45 miles west of Mosul.

He was serving a life sentence for bomb-making and possession of illegal weapons.

Sabawi was captured last year during a raid in Tikrit.
