NEWS RELEASE

CITY OF SAULT STE MARIE

*************************
The Roberta Bondar Park port facility will host several cruise ships throughout the summer and early fall season.

To comply with Transport Canada regulations for ship arrivals and departures, temporary fencing will be erected along the waterfront portion of the Hub Trail situated behind the Roberta Bondar Pavilion site.

The fenced-in area will be restricted to the general public for security and safety reasons.

An alternate walking route while vessels are docked is available for the public under the Roberta Bondar Tent Pavilion that connects to the Hub Trail on both sides.

Cruise ships will dock at the port facility on the following dates:

  • July 28

  • August 7, 12, 19, 25 and 26

  • September 2, 12, and 30

Early morning arrivals and late evening departure times vary depending on the direction the vessel is travelling.

The ships that come into port this season will bring approximately 4,000 visitors combined to the Sault Ste. Marie community.

We invite the public to view the cruise ships when docked, but please respect the regulations the City must follow to accommodate the vessels while in port.
