A celebration of life event will be held for Sault native Maija Nenonen on Thursday, March 30 at Delilah’s, a casual fine dining establishment in London, Ontario described as “her favourite spot,” a Sault Area Hospital Foundation Facebook post has announced.

Nenonen, 21, a student at the University of Western Ontario’s Ivey School of Business, died April 11, 2022 after being struck by a vehicle in the parking lot of the London townhouse complex where she lived.

“Maija was a beloved member of the Sault community who spent time volunteering and participating in research at Sault Area Hospital. She was an honours Business Administration student at Western University's Ivey School of Business and a member of the Analytics Club,” the SAHF Facebook post said.

Nenonen began her time at Western University as a health science student in 2018, transferring to Ivey in 2021.

London Police confirmed in July 2022 that no charges were laid in Nenonen’s death.

Tickets to the celebration of life event are $15 and all proceeds will be donated to the Sault Area Hospital Foundation Women & Children's Health Care Fund in Nenonen’s memory.

Those who are unable to attend the event at Delilah’s in London beginning at 6 p.m. on March 30 can still make a gift in memory of Nenonen by visiting the Sault Area Hospital Foundation's website.
