NEWS RELEASE

SAULT STE. MARIE
POLICE SERVICE

**************************
The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service is committed to increasing road safety awareness in the City of Sault Ste. Marie and the Township of Prince.

During the month of August officers from Patrol Services and Traffic Services will be enforcing intersections, specifically red lights.

Officers from these two areas regularly enforce the rules of the road, but once a month they team up and target different areas of concerns.

When you approach an intersection always obey the lights and stop signs at intersections.

Come to a full stop.

Before proceeding, be sure to look carefully for pedestrians, cyclists and other vehicles.

If you fail to stop for a red light the fine is $325 and 3 demerit points.

If you fail to stop for a stop sign the fine is $110 and 3 demerit points as well.

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service is committed to road safety, but remember, road safety begins with you.
