On January 8, 2016 the Sault Ste. Marie Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) executed a search warrant which led to the seizure of 3.6 kilograms of suspected cocaine, heroin, methamphetamines, steroids, and currency.

This seizure provided evidence of steroid production.

Three vehicles were also seized as offence related property.

As a result of this investigation two local men were arrested.

The investigation dubbed Project OTamper commenced in 2014 when RCMP learned of a personal trainer who was alleged to be trafficking imported steroids.

The above noted seizure is a significant disruption to the drug supply in the Sault Ste. Marie region.

The RCMP have charged the following individuals:

  • Importing a controlled substance contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA)
  • Trafficking a controlled substance (six counts) contrary to the CDSA,

The accused are scheduled to appear in Sault Ste. Marie Ontario Court of Justice on Monday, January 11, 2016.

The investigation is continuing.

"The RCMP is determined to reduce the total harmful effects caused by organized crime by disrupting the supplies of illicit drugs. The result of this investigation demonstrates how the RCMP and its partner agencies work effectively together to keep illicit drugs out of our communities." said Inspector Dean Dickson, North East District Commander.
