On July 22 shortly after 11 p.m. City Police officers were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision in the area of Queen St. East and March St. Further investigation revealed that a suspect male had allegedly stolen a pickup truck parked in a parking lot of a Queen Street establishment.

The stolen vehicle then proceeded to allegedly come into contact with the corner of an adjacent building, a parked vehicle, a metal sign and then stopping after crashing into a tree planter box on the sidewalk, all within a very short distance from its original starting point.

The suspect male then fled the area on foot.

The canine unit was called out and after a brief track, PSD Justice located the suspect male in the vicinity of the Roberta Bondar Pavillion. Once speaking with the accused, officers determined he appeared to be under the influence of alcohol as well.

As a result, 41 year old William Nissen of Albert Street East was charged with three counts of failing to remain at the scene of an accident, theft of a motor vehicle, possession of stolen property, and refusing to provide a breath sample. He appeared in WASH Court on July 23.
