Sault Ste. Marie PUC Services Inc. has a buyer for one of its no-longer-needed buildings.

PUC President and CEO Dominic Parrella informed SooToday.com that the PUC concluded the sale of the Trbovich site at 550 Second Line East (shown here) as of June 17, to Roofmart Canada Ltd.

Roofmart is a Canadian owned and operated roofing and building supplier, based in Brampton, Ontario.

The company traces its roots back to 1957, but officially became known as Roofmart in 1969.

Most of Roofmart’s locations are in Ontario.

Its new Sault Ste. Marie location will be its 46th.

Roofmart sells its products to both residential and commercial customers.

The Trbovich site, the second building east of the new PUC building on Second Line, formerly served as the City of Sault Ste. Marie’s Parks Division works centre before its purchase by the PUC.

“We are pleased to welcome Roofmart to Sault Ste. Marie,” Parrella told us, but neither PUC Services Inc. nor Roofmart disclosed details as to the price paid for the site.

Roofmart Canada Corporate Communications Manager Derek Fee, speaking to SooToday.com, told us “we will be moving quickly to develop the site…there will be some modifications we need to make.”

While no official open for business date has been determined, Fee said, “we hope to open by the end of July.”

Warehouse and sales positions will be available, along with an undetermined number of seasonal jobs.

Fee said five positions will be filled, with the hope of expanding that number.

Meanwhile, Parrella told SooToday.com that the PUC’s former head office on Queen Street has not yet officially been sold, but that the PUC is working towards closing the sale with a buyer by June 30.
