Public Health Ontario reports 129 new COVID cases Tuesday

In today's daily update from the province, officials say there were five deaths due to COVID-19 over the past 24 hours

Public Health Ontario has reported 129 new COVID-19 cases Tuesday as part of the July 27 daily update.

Today's update includes 158 new recoveries and five deaths.

The July 27 update provided by the province's public health agency also reported the following data:

  • 1,395 active, lab-confirmed cases, down from 1,429 yesterday.
  • 125 people are currently hospitalized with COVID-19.
  • There are 127 patients in intensive care units with COVID-related illness (of those, 36 no longer test positive for COVID-19).
  • 81 people are on ventilators due to COVID-related illness (of those, 18 no longer test positive for COVID-19).
  • The province reported 13,644 tests were processed yesterday, resulting in a 1 per cent positivity rate. 
  • There are 7,222 tests still awaiting processing, and the provincial labs have processed almost 16.5 million tests to date.

Public Health Ontario has confirmed 549,576 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic, and reported 538,860 recoveries and 9,321 deaths.

Vaccines

  • There were 92,035 doses of vaccines against COVID-19 administered yesterday.
  • 19,110,428 doses of vaccine have been administered.
  • In total, 8,702,111 people have been fully vaccinated.
