PSW accused of stealing cash, gift cards

BLIND RIVER – On June 13, 2016, members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) with the assistance of the East Algoma Crime Unit, responded to a theft of cash and gift cards at a senior’s building on Hudson Street in the Town of Blind River.    

Police began an investigation when an elderly female complained that she noticed there was over $150 in cash and gift cards missing from her wallet after a Personal Support Worker (PSW) had been in her apartment on June 10, 2016.

As a result of the investigation, Danielle Lafrance, 26 years of age, from Blind River, Ontario, was arrested and charged with:

  • Theft Under $5,000, contrary to section 334(b) of the Criminal Code; and
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – in Canada (X2), contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code.

The accused is schedule to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on August ?, 2016.
