Officials with the province say they are not considering a ban on moose hunting.
That statement follows a call Wednesday from the province's Environmental Commissioner who said action is needed to address a 20 per cent drop in Ontario's moose population in the past 10 years.
Natural Resources Minister Kathryn McGarry said they are already taking steps to address the issue such as the one week delay in the season this year, and last years move to shorten the hunt for moose calves to just two weeks.
McGarry added that more research is needed before they can determine what other steps are required.
