NEWS RELEASE

SAULT PRIDE COMMITTEE

***************************
The Sault Pride Committee along with members, volunteers, and allies of the Sault Ste. Marie and Algoma District lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered, queer, 2 spirit, and questioning (LGBTQ+) and allied people are proud to announce the first annual Sault Ste. Marie Pridefest.

The United Steelworkers of Sault Ste. Marie have generously contributed to ensure the success of this upcoming event being held from Friday September 5th to Sunday, September 7, 2014.

With more and more Northern Ontario cities stepping forward in supporting and celebrating their LGBTQ+ communities, the Sault Pride Committee decided it was time for our very own Pridefest.

Members, volunteers, allies, organizers and community partners of Sault Pride will be hosting a variety of inclusive events throughout the weekend.

Please join us at various events at locations throughout Sault Ste. Marie.

These festivities are open for everyone and all ages to attend.

Activities for Friday, September 5 include: Rainbow Pride Flag Raising & Opening Ceremonies, the Rainbow Info Expo, and Pridefest 2014 Dance Party.

Activities for Saturday, September 6 include: Children’s Story Time and Crafts, Pridefest 2014 Matinee Film Festival, and Comedy and Pub Night.

Activities for Sunday, September 7 include: Pride Walk and Loud & Proud.

Please check our website at http://algomaarts.wix.com/sault-pride for further information.

Donations to fund upcoming events can be made directly to the Sault Pride Community at any event.

Just look for any of our Sault Pride Committee organizers or designated volunteers, they will be wearing ID badges.

This event will help us to create awareness and education for so many other people, especially our youth.

We are very excited to be hosting Sault Ste. Marie’s Pridefest.

We would like to thank all of the local businesses and institutions who offered us venues and supports in kind.

To all LGBQT+ community members, thank you for simply being you.

We are grateful to have the opportunity to be a part of this movement.
