Poor weather conditions have closed all lanes of Highway 17 north between Highway 563 (Batchawana Bay) and Highway 101 (Wawa).

The closure was reported by the Ministry of Transportation at approximately 3:50 p.m. today.

Environment Canada has issued weather warnings for the region that includes Sault Ste. Marie, St. Joseph Island, Searchmont, and Lake Superior Park.

Snow squalls are expected to bring 20 to 35 cm of snow, and wind gusts of 70 to 90 km/h are likely.

SooToday will post additional information as it becomes available.
