Social media posts in the Sault seem to suggest crime may be on the rise as the summer months creep upon us.

Typically, summer is a time when petty crime rates go up.

This sparked our curiosity about how safe Saultites feel in the community.

So in a recent poll, we asked: Do you feel safe in your neighbourhood?

Most respondents, 72 per cent, voted yes, they do feel safe in their neighbourhood.

The breakdown was as follows:

  • 1,707 (72 per cent) voted yes
  • 660 (28 per cent) voted no

A total of 2,367 confirmed local votes were cast in the poll. This poll had a 1.98 per cent margin of error, 19 times out of 20.

SooToday's polling system allows for the capture of relevant local data and gives us the ability to detect and prevent fraudulent votes, as well as detect and prevent robots and filter out non-local duplicate votes.
