Police say Guelph man had gun, North York dude had weed

IRON BRIDGE – On May 30, 2016, members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on regular patrol duties on Highway 17 in the Village of Iron Bridge.

At 4:45 p.m., police observed a westbound vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed. A traffic stop was initiated.  

As a result of the investigation, it was determined that there was Cannabis Marijuana in the vehicle. Also located in the vehicle was a firearm.  

Matthew O’Donnell, 27 years of age, from Guelph, Ontario, was charged with:  Unauthorized possession of a firearm, contrary to section 91(1) of the Criminal Code.

Amir Forouhar, 34 years of age, from North York, Ontario, was charged with:  Possession of Scheduled II Substance – cannabis marihuana - under 30 grams, contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Both accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Blind River on July 7, 2016.
