City Police received four complaints of nuisance bears yesterday, all in the West End.

Doug Belanger of Chi Makwa Enterprises (contracted recently as the City's bearcatcher) was brought in to set up a live bear trap near the location of the sightings.

Here's what City officials want you to do if you see a bear within the Sault Ste. Marie City limits:

If the bear is on your back porch or you feel its location or behaviour poses a danger to the public, phone 911 immediately.

If you see a bear that isn't an immediate threat, phone either Doug Belanger at 759-1430 or his colleague Darryl at 253-0478.
