Police pull over stolen vehicle, six charged (updated, photo added)

9 a.m. update

On the 1st of July, 2014 just after 1 a.m., a homeowner in the central area of town reported the theft of a 2007 GMC pickup truck. 
 
Just before 3 a.m. officer on routine patrol observed the stolen vehicle with a number of occupants inside.
 
The vehicle was stopped in the area of Cathcart Street and Huron Street without incident.

Six people were taken into custody in relation to the stolen vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle, 22-year-old Jade Shawanda of Sweetgrass Street, Garden River was charged with one count of possession of property obtained by crime, one count of consume over legal limit, one count of theft over $5,000 and one count of breach of probation for failing to keep the peace and be of good behavior.

She will appear in court on August 11.

A 17-year-old male was charged with one count of possession of property obtained by crime and one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance after officers located a small amount of marijuana on the accused.

He will appear in court on August 11.

A second 17-year-old male was charged with one count of possession of property obtained by crime and three counts of breach of probation for failing to keep the peace, disobeying a curfew and associating with persons he was not to associate with.

He will appear in court on August 5.

A 15-year-old male was charged with one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance for having a small quantity of marijuana and one count of possession of property obtained with crime.

He will appear in court on August 5.

A third 17-year-old male was charged with one count of possession of property obtained by crime and one count of breach of probation for failing to keep the peace and be of good behavior.

He will appear in court on August 5.

A second 15-year-old male was charged with one count of possession of property obtained by crime.

He will appear in court on August 5.

A 22-year-old female was arrested by city police early this morning driving a vehicle which had been reported stolen earlier. 

She was charged with theft and possession of the vehicle as well as being over the legal limit due to her consuming alcohol.

There were 5 males in the vehicle with her at the time of the stop.

All 5 were charged with possession of stolen property and cannot be named due to them all being under 18 years old.

The female will be appearing in Provincial Court on August 11 and the 5 youths will be appearing in Young Offender Court on August 5.
