Sault Ste. Marie Police Service says it doesn't want to compromise the integrity of its investigation into a recent shooting death on Caledon Street by releasing any further details to the public.

44-year-old John David Jamieson was found in the parking of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Jan. 9 with critical injuries stemming from a gunshot wound.

The man later died from his injuries in hospital.

Two people were later arrested in relation to the homicide.

While police spokesperson Lincoln Louttit confirmed the police scene on Caledon Street has been released, no other details on the homicide investigation - including the names of those arrested and charges laid against the pair - will be made available to the public at this time.

The investigation is ongoing.
