Police charge cyclist with illegal lane change

CITY POLICE NEWS RELEASE

*************************** A 17 year-old male was charged after the bicycle he was operating was involved in a collision with a motor vehicle on Trunk Road at 6:48 last evening.

The youth was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with changing lanes not in safety after he was alleged to have been driving west bound on Trunk Road and crossed into the path of a west bound vehicle.

The bicycle was being operated in the curb lane and the van was being driven in the inside lane when the cyclist turned into the inside lane coming into contact with the motor vehicle.

The cyclist was then taken to the hospital by ambulance with minor injuries.

No other injuries were reported.
