City Police are seeking public co-operation with a phone survey that will canvas private residences and businesses for their opinions on local policing.

The following news release was issued today:

***************************************************************** Community Survey for Business Plan 2004-2006 The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service is asking for the assistance from the citizens of Sault Ste. Marie in developing the business plan for 2004 through 2006.

Oracle Poll Research Limited is currently conducting a random phone survey in our jurisidiction regarding policing services.

This phone survey will canvas both private residences and businesses.

In addition to the phone survey, similar print survey will be mailed out in the very near future to various community organizations including service clubs, boards, and special interest groups.

The survey will ask participants a variety of questions from rating past police service experiences to specific concerns in our community.

Any information that would identify the survey participant will be kept confidential by Oracle Poll.

Only qualified aggregate information will be released to the Police Service.

The resulting report will help the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service establish performance objectives and strategies that will build the framework for policing in our community from 2003 throughout 2006.

It is the hope of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service that if contacted you will participate in the survey.

The input of our citizens is paramount in developing a business plan for the community that we serve.
