Any planned power outages in Sault Ste. Marie would last just two hours, Police Chief Bob Davies said Wednesday.

No rotational outages are currently planned, Chief Davies said in a written release.

"If the city is required to decrease its power consumption through a planned outage, the entire city will not lose power.

"Services including the hospital, water treatment centres and sewage treatment facilities will not be included in any rotational outages.

"Planned power outages will only last for two hours in any one area, however power could be disconnected in one area of the city, reconnected after the two hours and then another area would be disconnected," the police chief said.

Planned outages would most likely occur between the peak hours of 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.

The Sault Ste. Marie Emergency Planning Committee is urging residents to continue to conserve energy.
