Pickup truck goes over Gros Cap area cliff, one taken to hospital (4 photos)

Sault Search and Rescue rappelled down the cliff to conduct a ground search

Police say one person was taken to hospital after a white pickup truck went off a cliff in Prince Township early Sunday morning.

Sault Ste. Marie Police Service Sergeant Derek MacFarlane confirmed a single vehicle went off road.

On scene the pickup truck rests part way down a heavily wooded cliff, just off a long winding gravel road that runs off North Gros Cap road and serves Lake Superior-facing cottages.

Sault Search and Rescue attended the scene and conducted a ground search around the badly damaged pickup truck.

Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services, Prince Township Fire Department, and Emergency Medical Services were also on scene.

The collision occurred at around 3:30 a.m. said MacFarlane and first responders were still on scene as of 8:30 a.m.
