An online petition is calling for a turning lane to be added to Highway 17 in front of the Timberland General Store/LCBO location in Goulais River.
Most recently, a motorcycle collision that occurred on the evening of July 10 in the area resulted in serious injuries and extended highway closure.
"There have been several serious accidents in front of the LCBO/Timberland entrance in Goulais River on Highway 17 North. A turning lane would go a long way to saving lives and help keep people safe," the petition reads.
"It breaks my heart to see the memorial in front of it as a constant reminder of a needless death, and it makes me shudder every time I hear emergency vehicles headed that way or news that the highway is closed due to an accident," wrote petition creator Tammy Landry.
"Please sign the petition to have a turning lane put in and I will forward it to every politician, agency and reporter possible to make it happen."
At the time of publication, the petition had 1,778 signatures.
