Osprey Media, owner of the Sault Star, Sault This Week, and 21 other Ontario daily newspapers, is expanding again.

The Canadian Press is reporting that Osprey is paying $193 million to CanWest Global Communications for four more Ontario dailies and 21 weeklies and other other small publications.

The daily newspapers being acquired by Osprey under a deal reached yesterday include the Brantford Expositor, St. Catharines Standard, Niagara Falls Review and the Welland Tribune.

There've been recent rumours that Canwest's Windsor Star is also for sale, but a company spokesman told CP's David Paddon that's not the case.

Ben Chim, an analyst with Dominion Bond Rating Services, told Paddon that the price paid by Osprey for the publications was "exactly what we had expected."
