It's now official.

Ward One Councillor David Orazietti told SooToday.com today that he will seek the go-ahead of the Sault Ste. Marie Provincial Liberal Association to run in the next provincial election.

The teacher with the Algoma District School Board said he's "excited" about allowing his name to stand at the nomination meeting on Thursday, February 13.

Liberal Association President Geoff Shaw said last week that the Sault Liberals have identified a preferred candidate and are "excited in the prospect of having an energetic and experienced person who can make a difference in the community."

"The nominee has been approached by the association executive who is expected to allow his name to stand," Shaw said.

The Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario is known to be courting Ted Nolan as a possible PC candidate.
