OPP charge John after altercation with officer

On January 10, 2014 at 2:25 a.m. an officer from the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment was monitoring traffic on Causley Street in Blind River.

The officer observed a male approaching from the rear to the driver’s window with a weapon in his hand. 

The officer reversed the cruiser from the immediate area for safety then after a short altercation the male was arrested without further incident. 

The accused made further threats to harm police.

As a result 32-year-old John Martin Recollet of Blind River is charged with the following criminal offences:

1) Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, section 88 of the Criminal Code

2) Uttering a threat (2 counts), section 264.1(1)(a) of the Criminal Code

He is being held for a bail hearing in Sault Ste Marie at a later date.
