OPP bomb squad dispatched to paper mill

The following news release was distributed early this morning by the Ontario Provincial Police:

************************ (Iroquois Falls, ON -. On the 29 September at approximately 12:54 p.m. the OPP received a call that a bomb threat had been received at Abitibi Consolidated Iroquois Falls Division.

Under the directive of Abitibi Consolidated the mill was evacuated.

The OPP deployed four canine units two of which were from the Provincial Emergency Response Team.

Officers from Iroquois Falls, Matheson, South Porcupine, Crime Unit and members of the Auxiliary OPP were also dispatched.

The Iroquois Falls Fire Department along with ambulance also attended the scene.

The mill facility was systematically searched.

OPP are continuing their investigation and are awaiting the arrival of the Explosive Disposal Unit which is enroute from North Bay
