Ontario reports 172 new COVID cases Sunday

Public Health Ontario has reported 172 new COVID-19 cases today in the July 25 daily update.

Today's update includes 144 new recoveries and two deaths.

The July 25 update provided by the province's public health agency also reported the following data:

  • 1,450 active, lab-confirmed cases, up from 1,424 yesterday.
  • 88 people are currently hospitalized with COVID-19.
    • Public Health Ontario noted that, as is the case on many weekends, more than 10 per cent of hospitals did not submit data to the Daily Bed Census, which could mean a rise in hospitalization numbers as more hospitals report
  • There are 127 patients in intensive care units with COVID-related illness (of those, 35 no longer test positive for COVID-19).
  • 81 people are on ventilators due to COVID-related illness (of those, 18 no longer test positive for COVID-19).
  • The province reported 13,902 tests were processed yesterday, resulting in a 1.1 per cent positivity rate. 
  • There are 3,991 tests still awaiting processing, and the provincial labs have processed 16.4 million tests to date.

Public Health Ontario has confirmed 549,328 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic, and reported 538,565 recoveries and 9,313 deaths.

Vaccines

  • There were 103,812 doses of vaccines against COVID-19 administered yesterday.
  • 18,952,473 doses of vaccine have been administered.
  • In total, 8,569,752 people have been fully vaccinated.
