One of Sault Ste. Marie’s most unique buildings is up for sale.
The Armando’s Hair Castle building at 144 McNabb St. is currently listed as a commercial property for $429,000.
The uncommon 750 square-foot building is situated on a modest lot on McNabb Street, just west of Gt. Northern Road. Almost appearing to be on stilts, the structure features room to park under the building itself.
“The architecture of it is something I have never seen and there is no other building in town that looks like it,” said listing agent Robert Paradiso. “It’s definitely unique in the sense that you can park underneath it and up the stairs you have a great little view from the windows.”
“It’s feature is that it’s wide open upstairs and you can enjoy the one-room setup they have going on there,” he added.
The Armando’s Hair Castle building was purpose built in the 1980s after the vacant land was purchased by its current owners to build the salon, said Paradiso.
“They both cut hair and they picked up the land and built this unique building that stands out,” said Paradiso.
Although the hair salon is currently in operation, Paradiso said the building could support any number of businesses.
”It could be used for a variety of different things, even if it wasn’t a hair salon,” said Paradiso. “It’s a great little shop and would be a tattoo place or another single-owner business.”
