One new forest fire reported near Kirkland Lake

Fire hazard ranges from low to moderate in Algoma area

One new fire has been confirmed in the Northeast region this afternoon, Aviation, Forest Fire and Emergency Services stated in a release issued today.

Kirkland Lake 5 is listed as under control at 0.1 of a hectare. The fire is located west of Elk Lake.

There are four other active fires in the region, which are either being held or under control.

The fire hazard ranges mostly from low to moderate across the region, with some areas north of Cochrane, west of Foleyet and a section in the southeast portion of the region showing a high hazard today.
