One new forest fire confirmed in the northeast region

As of late-afternoon Thursday, one new forest fire was confirmed in the northeast region.

The fire, Sudbury 15, is approximately a half-kilometre south of the north channel of the French River, southeast of Sudbury.

Not yet under control at 0.5 of a hectare, the fire is one of three active fires in the region.

The other active fires in the region are both currently under control.

The fire hazard in the region varies from low to moderate in areas north of Sault Ste. Marie and Sudbury.

In areas south of the two cities, the fire hazard ranges from moderate to high.
