One new COVID case being reported by APH

The region currently has 39 active cases and two hospitalizations

Algoma Public Health is reporting one new COVID-19 case in Algoma.

The new case is in the Sault Ste. Marie area.

Tested on April 30, the individual was infected through close contact with a known confirmed case and is currently self-isolating.

The new case brings the total number of COVID cases in the Algoma region since the start of the pandemic to 332.

The Sault Ste. Marie area is one of two regions in Algoma that have reported COVID-19 cases in the past 14 days with the other being the Elliot Lake area.

There are currently 39 active cases in Algoma and two hospitalizations.

There are also three active cases and one hospitalization in the region that are non-Algoma residents who are temporarily in the region. Those cases are not included in the active case count in the region.
