One new case of COVID-19 reported: APH

APH NOTE: Following receipt of amended laboratory reports, it has been determined that the two cases from Elliot Lake & area that were part of the May 14 PSA do not meet case definition. These two individuals are no longer considered cases and have been removed from Algoma's case count.

Algoma Public Health is reporting one new COVID-19 case in the Elliot Lake area.

The new case brings the total number of cases in the Algoma region since the start of the pandemic to 364.

Case No. 364, tested on May 13, falls under the unknown exposure category, and is currently self-isolating.

Unknown exposure means the person did not have recent international travel or close contact with a known confirmed case.

There are currently 30 active cases in Algoma and one hospitalization.

Regions in Algoma that have reported COVID cases in the past 14 days include:

  • Sault Ste. Marie and area
  • Central and east Algoma
  • Elliot Lake and area
  • North Algoma
