One dead after truck strikes guardrail, parked car, bursts into flames (update, 3 photos)

It struck a detached garage in the area of Allens Side Road and Fourth Line

10:21 a.m. update:

Police say the vehicle involved was a silver Dodge pickup truck. The deceased is the male driver of the truck.

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service says the truck was headed west on Fourth Line West when it failed to make the turn at Allen's Side Road and struck a guard rail. It then struck a parked vehicle, rolled and struck the side of a detached garage in the 1,200 block of Allens Side Road, say police. The truck then became engulfed in flames.

Police say at the time the male driver was the only one in the truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene, and police say officers with the Investigation Services and Traffic Services Divisions are now continuing the investigation.

Original story, 9:26 a.m.: 

Sault Ste. Police Service has confirmed that one person has died as the result of a single vehicle collision at the intersection of Allens Side Road and Fourth Line West early Sunday morning.

Police, fire and EMS responded at approximately 12:30 a.m. 

A vehicle struck an unattended parked vehicle before colliding with a house on Allens Side Road.

The vehicle that struck the house became engulfed in flames.  

Police will release additional information pending further investigation and notification of kin.
