On Saturday, the Sault Ste. Marie Canoe Brigade was practicing aboard a 24 foot ‘north canoe’ and in full Voyageur-era attire out on Trout Lake.

From June 28 to July 4, the brigade will be doing several trips that add up to single voyage between Batchawana Bay and Thessalon in celebration of Canada’s 150th anniversary.

The group is one of at least seven groups across Canada that are putting on similar trips in different areas of the country for the anniversary.

The brigade is looking for people to ride the boat with them next month, for more information visit this website.
