Details are few at this point, but Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) officials are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding an accident involving a plane in the Bruce Mines area Sunday evening.

“The accident happened at 7:10 p.m. and we were notified at 7:30, and the investigators have started gathering information,” said Julie Leroux, TSB spokesperson, speaking to SooToday from the TSB office in Gatineau, Quebec.

Leroux said one person was on board.

It is believed there were no injuries to the pilot, but Leroux said that could not be confirmed as of Sunday evening.

Leroux said the plane is believed to be a float plane.

“It’s a Class 5 investigation, we are just gathering data. It might change to a Class 4 or Class 3 depending on the information we gather,” Leroux said.

Thessalon OPP were not immediately available for comment.
