No terrorist attack at Santa Claus parade, say police

SAULT STE. MARIE POLICE SERVICE

8:15 p.m. 
At approximately 6 p.m. officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service responded to a call for service in the downtown core regarding a male that was observed entering an apartment building with a rifle case. 

Officers have spoken to this male and it was found that he is a properly licensed hunter who had just returned home from hunting. There is no threat to public safety at this time.

7:30 p.m. police issued the following message on social media and tagged SooToday.

We have received a number of calls in the last short while. There has not been a terrorist attack or shooting downtown. Officers are in the area investigating an incident however there has not been any verified threat to public safety at this time.
