For the second time in three days, Garden River's Ted Nolan was interviewed today for a vacant head coach position with Calgary Flames.
Bloomberg News is reporting tonight that Nolan met in Calgary with Flames President Ken King, General Manager Craig Button and team adviser Lanny McDonald.
The Globe and Mail, meanwhile, is tonight reporting two additional factors that might work in Nolan's favour.
First, Larry Robinson has told the Globe he's not interested in the Calgary position. Robinson coached New Jersey Devils to a 2001 Stanley Cup victory.
And Globe and Mail sports writer Eric Duhatschek says Nolan is now prepared to accept a short-term coaching offer.
"He is popular, he is hungry, he is available and he would work for the rest of the season, without any guarantees beyond the current NHL campaign," Duhatschek says.
Jim Playfair, currently head coach of Saint John Flames of the American Hockey League, is also said to be a candidate for the Calgary job.
