Soo motorists beware -- as of Monday night police have authority to ticket you for making a left turn onto McNabb Street from the Canadian Tire parking lot.
They can also nab you for turning left onto Second Line West from Tim Horton's, or from Churchill Plaza onto Trunk Road.
The turn restrictions were orginally approved as part of the City's site plan, but couldn't be legally enforced until they were incorporated into a bylaw by City Council on Monday night.
In other business, Council voted to donate $200 to help local athlete Shannon Hazelton compete in her first national-level competition. Hazelton, a member of Sault Ste. Marie Aquatic Club, has qualified for the 2002 Speedo Youth and Junior National Championships, to be held Feb. 21-24 in East Nepean, Ontario.
And council passed a bylaw regulating municipal election signs on city property. Signs must not be erected until 45 days before an election, and they must be removed within 72 hours afterwards. The bylaw does not apply to signs placed on private property.
