New York company establishes 350 jobs in the Sault

Sutherland Group Ltd. of Rochester, New York today announced plans to create 350 new jobs in Sault Ste. Marie by the end of next month.

That number is expected to grow to between 600 and 700 employees by late spring of next year, company officials told reporters today at the Civic Centre.

Sutherland Group is a major operator of what used to be called call centres, but are now more commonly referred to as customer relationship service contact centres.

Sutherland currently employs 3,000 people in the Unites States and another 2,000 in India.
