New wildfire ignited around 123 km away from Timmins

Two more fires have been confirmed by late afternoon

Ministry of Northern Development, Mines, Natural Resources and Forestry (MNDMNRF) reported today one active fire approximately 123 km away from Timmins.

Chapleau 8, a 0.1-hectare fire, ignited next to Foleyet Timber Road, 200 metres south of Cornice Lake and 200 metres northwest of Elongate Lake. It is not under control.

MNDMNRF also confirmed by late afternoon that there were two other new wildfires. All two fires have been put out. 

  • Sudbury 12, a 0.1-hectare fire, was located three kilometres south or East Sampson Island.
  • Timmins 5 was situated 1.5 kilometres west of Errington Lake, next to Highway 144, and it occupied 0.1 hectares.
