New uses sought for watertower

City councillors and staff are looking for a new use for the watertower and adjoining property at Second Line East near Great Northern Road.

City councillors and staff are looking for a new use for the watertower and adjoining property at Second Line East near Great Northern Road. Ward One Councillor James Caicco said on Monday night that the structure could become an important element in the Soo's marketing strategy. Council earlier determined that the aging tower was unnecessary to its waterworks systems.

In other news, those long delays at rail level crossings in the Soo should soon be shorter, if they aren't already. Councillors were told that the reorganized Algoma Steel is co-operating in efforts to resolve the problem, as is Canadian National.
