NEWS RELEASE

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY SAULT STE. MARIE & AREA

This past Sunday (July 23, 2017), six lucky winners received their new sheds from Habitat for Humanity’s first ever Huts for Homes Draw.  Raker Innovative Services generously donated their time and resources to deliver the sheds to the happy hut owners.

“Community support of the draw was incredible!  Lots of people were happy to know that even if they didn’t win, it was an investment to build homes for local families,” Sandi Wheeler, Resource Development Manager said gratefully.

“It is the first time Habitat for Humanity Sault Ste. Marie has ever had a draw of this magnitude and they raised an astounding $24,366 for their next build.  Heritage Home Hardware donated the materials for all the sheds and Exit Realty was a ticket matching sponsor, contributing an awesome $9,812 to the total raised.”

Builds 10 and 11 are in the Bayview area and are part of the 34th annual Carter Work Project. To celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday, Habitat for Humanity locations across Canada are building 150 homes alongside partner families to address the affordable housing crisis facing our country. Locally, Habitat Sault Ste. Marie & Area is building two of those 150!
