New retailers to move into former Lowe’s space (3 photos)

Sources say Dollarama, HomeSense, Winners will be occupants; Princess Auto to open in 2023

Crews are at work renovating the former Lowe’s home improvement retail space in the plaza located at 248 Northern Avenue East.

Plaza employees told SooToday on Wednesday that the Dollarama location at 293 Northern Avenue East will be moving across the road to take up one of several spaces in the renovated portion of the plaza.

SooToday was also told that HomeSense, a home furnishing store and Winners, a department store currently located at Cambrian Mall on Great Northern Road, will also be moving into the space.

Princess Auto, a Winnipeg-based tool and equipment retailer, is expected to open a location in the former Lowe’s space in 2023.

The shopping centre - which many Saultites still remember as home to K-Mart, then Zellers - is owned by Canadian company Plaza REIT, a leading property ownership and development company.

Officials from Plaza REIT, Dollarama, HomeSense and Winners were not immediately available for comment.
