Superior Adult Learning (formerly Program Read) is pleased to announce a new program that will help newcomers and people with diverse abilities in Sault Ste. Marie. The Skills for Success program, supported by the Governments of Ontario and Canada, will provide small group instruction on the key skills that people need to secure and maintain employment in our community, including:
    •    Communication
    •    Creativity and Innovation
    •    Problem-Solving
    •    Reading
    •    Digital
    •    Collaboration
    •    Writing
    •    Adaptability
    •    Numeracy

Once participants have completed four weeks of free training, they are eligible to participate in two work experience placements with local employers.

Martin Wyant, executive director of Superior Adult Learning, knows that there are many employers in our community who are struggling to find the employees they need who can be matched with newcomers and people with diverse abilities who, with appropriate training and support, will be dedicated and effective employees.

“The Skills for Success model is well researched,” said Wyant. “We know the key skills that employers are seeking and we are pleased to be offering a new program that can help employers and potential employees alike.”

Superior Adult Learning will be partnering with local organizations, including Sault College Employment Solutions and the Sault Community Career Centre, along with national organizations like Futureworx and ABC Life Literacy. Registration for participants will begin on April 24. Groups will be limited to seven participants, so early registration is recommended.
