The Sault Area Hospital may end up sharing food amd laundry services and a power plant with its next-door neighbour, the new F.J. Davey Home on Third Line.

Manu Malkani (shown), SAH's president and chief executive officer, said last night that discussions are being held with Davey Home administrators to determine the extent and nature of the shared services.

The Davey Home has clearly indicated that it wants to keep control of its food services, so any shared food-preparation facility would likely be located there.

The hospital is hoping to handle laundry services for both itself and the Davey Home, and joint discussions are considering where a shared power plant could be located.

All-candidates debate on health care?

Sault Area Hospital, in conjunction with the Group Health Centre and the local Academy of Medicine, is trying to organize an all-candidates debate prior to the provincial election.

Agreement in principle has been received from the candidates, and a tentative date of September 30 has been set.
