New doctor in Richards Landing

********************** The Matthews Memorial Hospital Association is pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Lenka Snajdrova to the health care team at the St. Joseph Island Medical Clinic in Richards Landing.

Commencing in October, Dr. Snajdrova began job sharing 20% (1 day per week) of Dr. McLeod’s Community Sponsored Contract position.

Dr. Snajdrova and her fiancé, Jeff Mason, recently purchased a home on St. Joseph Island and together with their young family moved here from Sudbury.

The addition of Dr. Snajdrova does not expand the island clinic’s ability to see more patients at this time but does enable the hospital association to plan for a smooth transition of services when Dr. McLeod’s current contract expires in April 2006.

At that time, it is planned that Dr. Snajdrova will take over Dr. McLeod’s contract and Dr. McLeod will then stay on part time to assist her.

Dr. Snajdrova completed her medical residency through the Northeastern Ontario Family Medicine Program in 2003 after studying at the University of Ottawa Medical School and receiving her Honours Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Western Ontario in London.

In addition to her job sharing role at the Island clinic, Dr. Snajdrova will be providing locum service to other area clinics and the Sault Area Hospital.

The St. Joseph Island Medical Clinic provides family medicine services to residents from Echo Bay to Johnson Township including St. Joseph Island.
