Employment Solutions offers summer job help for youth

Employment Solutions is once again delivering the Summer Jobs Service to help local high school, college and university students find summer employment in the Sault Ste. Marie and Blind River/North Shore areas.

The Summer Jobs Service (SJS) is an Employment Ontario program designed to help both job seekers and employers meet their employment needs over the busy summer months.

Students between the ages of 15 and 30 who are planning to return to full-time studies in the fall can register for the program to receive job search assistance and may obtain a summer student position up to 16 weeks in length.

Meanwhile, participating employers who create a summer job may receive a $2/hr wage subsidy when they hire a registered SJS participant through the program.

Historically, job seekers and employers have found the Summer Jobs Service to be mutually beneficial and highly effective in filling summer employment gaps.

In some cases, the employment relationships have worked so well that students have maintained their jobs beyond the end of the program and continued to work part-time during the school year.

The Summer Jobs Service is currently open for registration at both Employment Solutions locations in Sault Ste. Marie and Blind River.
