Names released in fatal Highway 101 collision

Ontario Provincial Police in South Porcupine have identified four family members killed in a crash on Highway 101 Thursday morning.

The collision between a sport utility vehicle and a commercial vehicle happened at around 10:25 a.m., approximately 70 kilometres west of Timmins.

The four travelling in the SUV were killed.

The victims were identified as Paulette MacLeod, 61, Aynsley MacLeod, 29, Jamaal MacLeod-Nakogee, 10, and Kruz Nakogee, 3, all of Chapleau.

According to a GoFundMe campaign that has been established for Aynsley MacLoed's husband, the 29-year-old mother was six months pregnant. 

The campaign has already raised more than $9,800 overnight.

The driver of the commercial vehicle, Wade Bass, 38, of Timmins, was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for minor injuries and released.

The Highway was reopened at approximately 9:30 p.m. last night. The South Porcupine Detachment and the OPP Technical Collision Investigators are continuing their investigation to determine a cause of the collision.
