Jason Collins of Third Line West was one of three candidates to file nomination papers Tuesday for the November 10 civic elections.
Collins (shown) is one of six candidates running for Ward 6 councillor.
He's general manager of Faith Online, a Sault-based web application developer that specializes in helping churches.
Also filing nomination papers Tuesday were Laurie Ann Aceti of Northern Avenue West and Marchy Bruni of Bitonti Crescent.
Both Aceti and Bruni are seeking re-election on the Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board.
**************************************************************** The following is Jason Collins' campaign announcement, as received by SooToday.com:
Dear residents of Ward 6,
My name is Jason Collins and I am pleased to announce I am a candidate for councillor in ward 6.
My wife Krisanne and I are both excited to serve you and our community in this very special way.
We believe there is a need for change in Ward 6 and I'm ready for the job.
As a young business person here in the Sault, it is my desire to create a better environment for young families and young investors to live and do business.
I am the General Manager of Faith Online Ltd., a technology company currently developing website applications for churches and religious organizations internationally.
As a business owner in the Sault, I understand the value of investing and supporting initiatives that serve the best interests of our community and our region.
I believe we must do our part to retain and attract young and talented individuals in Northern Ontario.
I believe Sault Ste. Marie is an amazing place to live, start a family and own a business.
I believe our youth do have a bright future here and we must do our part to contribute to positive change.
I believe our economy will grow stronger and due diligence is more important now than ever before.
I believe if we work together we can accomplish everything we aim to achieve.
I believe integrity and hard work pay off.
I believe I am the best option to lead the next step for change.
If you choose to elect me for council, the top three items I intend to support are:
1. COUNCIL COOPERATION - Encourage more cooperation on council
2. ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT - Partner with community organizations to implement key economic development opportunities
3. YOUTH STRATEGY - Work with youth organizations to identify what our municipal government can do to create a better future
Please vote Jason Collins for Councilor on November 10th
If I miss you at home while canvassing, please call me or my wife Krisanne at any time and we would be pleased to arrange a time to visit with you in person. 256-8738
